New Year's Resolutions 2023 - Veganuary

Hello Friend!

Happy New Year from all of us at PLAYin CHOC! It's 2023, and it's time to make some new years resolutions! The last few years have been filled with change, both good and bad. We've seen more people become vegan than ever before — but did your resolution list include anything about that? Are you ready to take the next steps toward a healthier lifestyle? If so, keep reading!

It’s Veganuary, so many of us will be striving to eat a diet that’s more plant-based.

New Years resolutions turning vegan

Set yourself some veganuary goals

It's important to set yourself some goals. For example, you might say: "I will cut out all meat and dairy for the next month." Or maybe you want to make veganizing your diet a regular thing, so that it's not just something you do once every year.

You may also want to set more specific targets for the first month of 2023! Maybe your goal is going vegan for three months straight? Or maybe five? Whatever works for you!

Form new habits this new year
  • Form a plan.

  • Don't overcomplicate things.

  • Don't try to change everything at once. It will be easier to stay on track if you take baby steps, like eating more vegan food or going for a walk every day instead of just once or twice a week.

  • If you slip up and eat something not-vegan (or even something that used to be animal-derived but isn’t anymore), don’t beat yourself up about it! Instead, recognize what happened and move on with your life!

Get your friends and family on board
  • Don't try to convert everyone at once. It's really important not to force your opinions on others, especially if they aren't ready or willing to hear them yet.

  • Don't expect everyone to be on board with veganism from the get-go. Some people take longer than others and need time before they start changing their diets—especially if it means giving up eating certain foods that are part of their culture (like cheese).

  • Speak up when you're with people who are eating animal products; this can be difficult when talking about these issues face-to-face because there's always the fear of offending someone else in the group by bringing up such sensitive topics as veganism or animal cruelty reform!

Join a community of vegans
  • Find a community of vegans. At PLAYin CHOC® we are always looking to build relationships and have healthy conversations about health, joy and the planet. Head over to our Instagram and join the conversation. We are here to support you!

  • Browse through the vegan Facebook groups, Instagram pages and Twitter accounts that are out there. You can also find them on Reddit or Google+. If you don't have friends who are already vegan, try asking around for recommendations from your local area—you'll be surprised how many people will be willing to help!

  • Join an online forum like Veganuary or Happy Cow where people share their experiences with each other and answer questions about new tips, tricks and products for living a healthy lifestyle as a vegan.* Search for podcasts about plant based living or veganism.

Start slow
  • Start slow. Don’t try to change everything at once, and don’t expect to go vegan overnight. It takes time for your body to adjust, so make sure you give it time!

  • Look for vegan products at grocery stores or online (and maybe even Whole Foods!). There are many companies that make delicious products that contain no animal ingredients whatsoever; check them out!

This year, you can become an ethical, compassionate, healthy vegan.

Why you should become a vegan:

  • It's good for the planet. The average American consumes about 150 pounds of meat per year, which adds up to about 50 billion animals killed each year. This is equivalent to 80 million acres of land—that's more than all the rainforests combined! If everyone in the world became vegan for one day (which isn't likely), we could save 1/3rd of all resources consumed by humans on this planet.

  • There's no need to compromise on deliciousness or creamy indulgence. PLAYin CHOC chocolate is, and always will be vegan, as well as planet-friendly. It’s award-winningly great tasting, so going plant-based, vegetarian or flexitarian has never been easier. Many of our customers tell us that ours is the best chocolate they’ve ever tasted. Perhaps that’s because PLAYin CHOC’s dreamy recipe has just 3 organic plants; single-origin Peruvian cacao beans, Madagascan bourbon vanilla and organic creamed coconut from Indonesia. Simple, yet luxurious. And better for you and kinder to the Earth.
  • It makes you healthier: There are many research studies showing how switching from animal products to plant-based foods improves your overall health and well-being while reducing your risk for certain diseases like heart disease and cancer.
